OBJECTIVE
Today we are playing Sharks and Minnows II. In this game, the objective is to be the last minnow.
INSTRUCTIONS
- I will select a shark (tagger).
- Before the game begins, line up on the baseline shoulder-to-shoulder.
- When I say, “GO!” the minnows will run to the end line.
- If you are tagged or go out-of-bounds, you become seaweed.
- As seaweed, you may only pivot one foot (one foot must remain on the ground at all times).
- Sharks and seaweed must use two-finger butterfly tags.
- We will begin a new round when there is one minnow left.
- The last minnow will start off as the shark for the next round.
TEACHING TIPS
- Approach:
- Choose a capable shark for the first round.
- Depending on class size, add more sharks.
- Allow students the choice to be either seaweed or sharks in later rounds.
- For increased difficulty have students wear flags.
