TECHNIQUE
Today we are going to learn how to perform a scissors move.
IMPORTANCE
The scissors move is important because it allows you to beat your opponent and advance forward.
VOCABULARY
Fake: an attempt to deceive the opponent by a move.
When performing a scissors move, it is important to:
1. Simultaneously step with your left foot to the side of the ball, drop your left shoulder, and fake so that you are going to run left.
2. Bring your right foot around the inside of the ball to the outside.
3. Touch the ball with the outside of your left foot.
PRACTICE
- Line up on the baseline shoulder-to-shoulder with your ball in the control position. When I say, “GO!” dribble to the mid-line, perform a scissors move and then dribble back to the baseline. When you reach the baseline, put your ball back in the control position to indicate that you are ready.
- Repeat as many times as needed.
