TECHNIQUE
Today we are going to learn how to one-touch pass.
IMPORTANCE
One-touch passing is important because it allows you to quickly receive and pass the ball when a defender is applying pressure.
VOCABULARY
Soccer pass: a kick of the ball from one player to another.
When one-touch passing, it is important to:
1. You will receive and pass the ball in the same motion.
2. Place your plant foot next to the ball pointed towards the target.
3. Lock your ankle and keep your passing toe up.
4. Swing the inside of the kicking foot through the middle of the ball.
PRACTICE
- I will divide the class into teams of two. Stand five feet away from your partner at the baseline. When I say, “GO!” pass back and forth to each other using one-touch passes while both moving towards the end line. Stop when you’ve reached the end line.
- Repeat as many times as needed.

- When I say, “GO!” the kickers will try and pass the ball to a classmate standing in the outer circle.
- If the kicker and classmate make a complete pass, they switch positions.
- If the whirlpool defender blocks a kickers pass, they switch positions.
- Each complete pass must be made to a different classmate.
- We will begin a new game when every student has had a chance at each role.
Game 1: Play as indicated above.
