SOCCER LESSON PLANS

Each unit is made up of a series of levels that provides a developmentally appropriate sequence to motor skill development. As students progress through the levels, they establish a foundation of different motor skills and begin to combine and apply those motor skills in specialized movement contexts.

KINDERGARTEN

Level 1: Balance one foot on the ball

Level 2: Keep a ball close while dribbling

Level 3: Dribble with the inside of your foot

Level 4: Kick a non-moving ball while standing still

1ST GRADE

Level 5: Toe taps

Level 6: Dribble using an inside-inside pattern

Level 7: Dribble and stop the ball using the bottom of your foot

Level 8: Kick a non-moving ball forward

2nd Grade

Level 9: Dribble with your head up

Level 10: Dribble with the top of your laces

Level 11: Pull ball back while dribbling

Level 12: Kick a ball along the ground off the dribble

3rd Grade

Level 13: Change speed while dribbling

Level 14: Dribble around an object while jogging

Level 15: Pass a ball while standing still

Level 16: Receive a pass while standing still

4TH GRADE

Level 17: Kick a ball in the air off a dribble

Level 18: Dribble using inside-outside pattern

Level 19: Pass off the dribble at a target

Level 20: Shoot off the dribble

5th GRADE

Level 21: Receive a pass while moving

Level 22: Dribble using an outside-outside pattern

Level 23: Understand when to pass

Level 24: Punt the ball

6th GRADE

Level 25: Change direction using inside or outside of foot while dribbling to create open space.

Level 26: Two-touch pass

Level 27: Land on shooting foot

Level 28: Get back when on defense

7TH GRADE

Level 29: Step over move

Level 30: One-touch pass

Level 31: Shoot off the pass

Level 32: Attack the ball

8TH GRADE

Level 33: Get to an open space

Level 34: Scissors move

Level 35: Soccer scrimmage

Level 36: Soccer referee
